moreira salles institute, 2016
the exhibition brought together, in an unprecedented way, seventy years of visual production by the artist, humorist, playwright and journalist millôr fernandes. his drawings, from self-portraits to the relentless critique of Brazilian life, created mainly to be published in the press, reveal the strength and complexity of a body of work fundamental to brazilian art.
next to the original artworks, in which it was possible to see millôr’s mode of operation, the space ambience was created by magnifications of his drawings, glued to the wall like street posters.
the catalog brings together about five hundred drawings, critical essays and a chronology of the artist. its cover was awarded second place in the 59th jabuti award.
curated by cassio loredano, julia kovensky and paulo roberto pires, the show took place in rio de janeiro (2016) and são paulo (2018).
