carla chaim’s works are, above all, records of actions; and not even her drawings can elude that. as projects, they are built by procedures defined a priori, which always have her body as a measure.
based on this idea, the graphic design of the book is based on a typography that also explains its constructive principle. in btp, designed by èmilie rigaud, what would be the single gesture of a curve becomes straight line segments – a confluence of small gestures. keeping the idiosyncrasy, the italics are not inclined letters, but rotated characters.
