baião is the children’s and young adult label of todavia publisher, for which we also created the visual identity. two key premises guided this project: how to communicate with a young audience without falling into the trap of infantilizing the discourse, and how to design a new brand that reflects its connection to todavia — not as a daughter, but as a cousin.
the symbol, commissioned from visual artists angela detanico and rafael lain, is an alphanumeric code that translates baião into a unique notation. in this play on language, baião’s brand is conceptually linked to todavia’s, rather than through formal aspects.
the visual identity also features a vibrant color palette and wavy lines, which appear from the website to the book credits. the typography, always in lowercase, lends a friendly and welcoming tone to this literary label’s communication.
